Extracurricular Activities

At RUMNS we strive to provide as many experiences as possible for our preschoolers. From our school celebrations, to our family nights, we aim to not only educate our children, but build friendships between children and families that last long past the preschool years.

We also make sure to bring in special programs for our students to have hands-on learning experiences. We like to explore the worlds of science, art, music, literature and other areas with our "Wacky Wednesdays," where we step out of our regular activities to engage in learning and play experiences throughout the year.

What are our Preschoolers doing?

DeBaugh Dance

It's always a good time when Ms. Maia brings her dance studio to our school every other month for music and dance with our friends.

Wolfe's Wildlife Encounters

We love to bring the outdoors in! Wolfe's Wildlife Encounters brings their wonderful reptile family for a see and touch morning and children get to experience the world of scales and tails.

Chapel

Pastor Jen and Mr. Dan bring the Bible to life each month in the sanctuary here at Reisterstown United Methodist Church. We pray, sing, hear Bible stories, see puppet shows, learn lessons and laugh in fellowship together.

Franklin Woods Trail

How lucky are we? Right at the back of our property is the beginning of the Franklin Woods Trail. We can jacket-up and take a walk anytime in the woods to play for a while, or look for butterflies, bugs, frogs, or salamanders! Sure, it's muddy, but what's learning without a little dirt?

Library Trips

Also right at the end of our parking lot is the Baltimore County Public Library.

We can schedule a story time, or just pop on over for a visit when we feel like checking out a good book!

Family Nights

We love to get our families together!

Each Fall, we have a family get-together. Be it a dinner and Silent Auction or an International Night, where our families share cultures, it's always a good time.

Kids' Day Out

Some places call them Parents' Nights Out, but we prefer to have a Kids' time, where they can come and have a good time. Our favorite is our Breakfast with Santa in December, where parents drop children off and then go have grown up time while the kids have breakfast, make crafts, sing, dance, and get their pictures taken with Santa!

Literacy Night

The first week of March each year is Read Across America Week where students throughout the United States celebrate Literacy and Dr. Seuss' Birthday. We like to invite our families on Friday night for a Literacy Night where teachers share their own favorite books, and we have activities to accompany them. We may even invite a local author!
